TEACHING ARTIST PROGRAM

Each year 2-3 artists are nominated for Visionaries + Voices’ Teaching Artist Program. TAP is an intensive 30-35 week long program consisting of weekly meetings where candidates are trained to develop, prepare, and present lessons based on their personal artwork. The lessons they create are taught in the classroom and/or community-based educational settings.

Each candidate is paired with a volunteer mentor for support as they advance through the TAP curriculum. After completing the program, V+V holds a graduation ceremony, after which the candidates become eligible for paid teaching opportunities.

27 TAP artists are currently available to lead a wide variety of courses.

WORK WITH TAP

Become a mentor! Every year we need 3 volunteer mentors to pair with our TAP candidates. As a mentor, you will work in group and one-on-one sessions with a candidate to support their teaching artist training.

Co-op with us! Visionaries + Voices offers opportunities for college students to work with our education department and artists.

To find out more information about mentoring and student co-op positions, contact Education Director Seana Higgins.
