Cedric Michael Cox began his relationship with Visionaries and Voice in April of 2009 as a guest artist for their educational outreach program called Open Art. In Open art Cox created individual lesson plans for each Visionaries and Voices artist that introduced them to artists throughout art history that pertained to their personal aesthetic, while assisting them with new methods of creating art through different mediums. After Open Art Cox worked as a project Manager for ArtWorks for the "Raymond Thunder- Sky Legacy Mural" located at V&V Northside with V&V artist Antonio Adams. Shortly after Cox began working as at studio coordinator for V &V Northside. Cedric Michael Cox is a Cincinnati-based artist known for his paintings and drawings, which fall between surrealism and abstraction. His work is a testimony to his experience living in the inner city with themes ranging from mythical literature to the relationships between body and music, and the urban cityscape. Cox received his bachelor's in Fine Arts degree in 1999 at the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture Art and Planning. While attending the University, he was awarded a fellowship to study at the prestigious Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. His work has been exhibited locally and regionally. As an assistant project manager, he worked with Hip - Notic concepts on unique events that showcased themed art exhibitions, popular art collections, films and music. While working with Hip - Notic Concepts, Cox created Art Shapes Us, a program he coordinates and teaches that brings together high school and middle school students from various educational institutions and backgrounds for a 6 to 8 week art course. Throughout his career Cox has executed art educational projects at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, Cincinnati Art Museum, the Weston Gallery at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, ArtWorks and the Contemporary Arts Center of Cincinnati. His paintings are in the permanent corporate collection at the First Valley Office Complex and the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce. Over the years, his work has been published in gallery catalogs and in the third addition of the college text book Drawing (space, form and expression). Cox has recently been rewarded the City of Cincinnati Individual Artist Grant.
